It has been amazing to watch the students as they become more comfortable with themselves as artists, and comfortable with their “teacher,” Trevor Hunt. To date, the students have collectively finished one paddle, and are well on their way with our sun mask. Each student has had a hand in painting the designs of our paddles, and contributing their ideas. Students have spent significant time drawing Kwakiutl designs, and exploring traditional shapes and contours.

In a recent conversation with Trevor, it was noted how certain students are emerging as naturals – connecting their gifts to the work. It is an honour to be part of a process that exposes such new talents and passions.
